Rishabh Pant has returned to the team after missing the previous season due to an unfortunate car accident. Pant, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Anrich Nortje form a strong core for Delhi.

Pant has virtually recovered his full fitness and is ready to go. It’ll be fascinating to watch how he does this season. With the T20 World Cup approaching, Pant has to make an outstanding effort to reclaim his position in the team.

In the IPL 2024 auction, Delhi signed new players such as Harry Brook (Rs. 4 crores), Tristan Stubbs (Rs. 50 lakhs), Ricky Bhui (Rs. 20 lakhs), Kumar Kushagra (Rs. 7.20 crore), Rasikh Dar (Rs. 20 lakhs), Jhye Richardson (Rs. 5 crores), Sumit Kumar (Rs. 1 crore), Shai Hope (Rs. 75 lakhs), and Swastik Chhikara (Rs. 20 lakhs).

Lungi Ngidi just announced his withdrawal from the IPL 2024 season, and Australian hitter Jake Fraser-McGurk has taken his position. Harry Brook, one of the most expensive purchases for Delhi in the auction, has also withdrawn owing to personal reasons.

 

Delhi Capitals Playing XI for the IPL 2024

 

1. David Warner

David Warner

The Capitals’ David Warner will lead off the innings. Despite Delhi’s subpar season last year, the southpaw scored 516 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36.86 and a strike rate of 150. Warner will not head DC this season.

 

2. Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw was kept by the franchise after a couple of poor seasons. He scored 283 runs in the IPL 2022 and 106 last year. He is not one of the top scorers in the Ranji Trophy this season.

3. Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh
Marsh will bat at third. The Australian all-rounder is likely to captain his team in the T20 World Cup 2024. We’ve had a fantastic year and want to make an impression in this year’s IPL. He just won the World Cup with Australia, scoring around 500 runs for his side. McGurk might be the other possibility at three. He just made his white-ball debut in a series against the West Indies.

4. Rishabh Pant (C / WK)


Pant will bat at four and lead the Delhi Capitals. The cricketing world is looking forward to his return after his tragic injury. He will need to make an explosive return to reclaim his spot in the team. Pant is also very close to completing 2000 IPL runs.

 

5. Shai Hope


Hope can play as an out-and-out hitter at number five. He also gives ample versatility in the batting order and can serve as Pant’s backup catcher. He can also aid Pant with his leadership skills.

 

6. Axar Patel

Patel can play at six as a specialized all-rounder. He has taken 54 wickets for DC and scored 732 runs in 68 Capitals games. If there are no injuries, he should be able to play all of the matches.

 

7. Lalit Yadav

Lalit Yadav, the other all-rounder, can bat at number seven. He bowls excellent off-spin and can tonk the ball in the closing overs. If they need a batter, they may also play Yash Dhull.

 

8. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep will be Delhi’s wicket-taking speciality spinner. He took 22 wickets for Delhi in the IPL 2022, but just 10 the next season. He will enter the IPL following a good Test series against England when he took 19 wickets in four matches.

9. Isht Sharma

The experienced Ishant Sharma can spearhead Delhi’s pace assault. The franchise kept him because of his expertise. He took 10 wickets last season. His finest year in the IPL was 2015, when he took 15 wickets.

10. Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed will be the second Indian pacer in the line-up. He has not participated in the Indian cricket circuit in some years. He has taken 25 wickets in 19 games for Delhi during the previous two seasons.

 

11. Anrich Nortje

Nortje completes the Delhi Capitals’ playing XI. He missed the IPL previous season due to an injury, but is anticipated to compete this season. He has been out of action since September 2023 due to a back ailment, and he missed the World Cup. His fitness will be evaluated during the IPL.
