To complete their lineup, the Mumbai Indians (MI) recruited 8 additional players at the IPL 2024 auction. The five-time IPL winners paid 5 crores for Gerald Coetzee, who was their most expensive purchase at the auction. Another successful signing was Sri Lankan bowler Dilshan Madushanka, who was brought in for 4.60 crores.

Another notable exception was Shreyas Gopal, who was acquired for two crores. He will be an excellent backup for Piyush Chawla. Despite having a fantastic time at the auction, the Mumbai Indians’ argument was over trading Hardik Pandya and finally naming him as the franchise’s captain considering his previous injury history.

Cricket pundits are still puzzled by the Mumbai Indians’ action. Rohit Sharma, who has won five IPL championships as captain and has been instrumental in the success of many Indian players, will now have to play second fiddle.

Mumbai Indians Playing XI for the IPL 2024

1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit will continue to open the batting for the Mumbai Indians. During the World Cup, he scored over 500 runs with his ultra-aggressive batting strategy. He’d want to bat using the same template. When Hardik Pandya joined the franchise, The Hitman was replaced as captain.

2. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan (WK)

Ishan Kishan will start the batting with Rohit. He has been the first-choice keeper, and all of his batting success has come at the top of the order. It’ll be fascinating to watch how he does this season. Kishan was part of India’s World Cup team.

3. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar-Yadav

SKY will bat at third. He replied with a sad heart emoji when Hardik Pandya was announced as the new MI captain. He recently had success as India’s T20I captain. Surya will undoubtedly be one of the hitters to look out for.

4. Tilak Varma

Tilak-Varma

Batting at four is Tilak’s plan. He has now appeared in two seasons for Michigan, during which he has scored 790 runs. His one-day international and Twenty20 debuts were due to his batting consistency. In the middle of the order, he will bat.

5. Hardik Pandya (C)

Hardik Pandya

Pandya is scheduled to start at five. Following a pair of productive seasons, he was moved from GT to MI. In the first season of the Gujarat Titans, he helped them win the championship. I am curious to see Pandya’s leadership style in charge of this Mumbai India franchise.

6. Tim David

Tim-David

At number six, you’ll find the hard-hitting Australian Tim David. Upon his arrival, he was considered to be Kieron Pollarsd’s successor. He is recognized as a T20I specialist throughout T20 leagues.

7. Gerald Coetzee

Gerald-Coetzee

Coetzee can bat at seven. He comes into 2017 IPL with the reputation of being a classy emerging bowler and someone who can tonk the ball down the order. He collected 20 wickets in the IPL and ended up securing his first IPL assignment with Mumbai.

8. Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah

Bumrah is fully and certainly the spearhead of this Mumbai Indians onslaught. He had a good World Cup when he grabbed 20 wickets. He will link up with the likes of Coetzee and Madushanka to make a formidable speed trio.

9. Dilshan Madushanka

Madushanka will be the third seamer in this MI team. He also had a terrific World Cup concluding with 21 wickets the third-highest among all the pacers. He bowled very effectively against India. These three pacers may surely be the future for Mumbai.

10. Akash Madhwal

Madhwal will be the fourth pacer in this pace onslaught. He can provide additional depth to this pace assault with his sheer speed. He impressed one and all with his 14 wickets from 8 games including two four-wicket hauls.

11. Piyush Chawla

Chawla concludes the likely strong playing XI for MI. He picked up 22 wickets from 16 games last season and brings a lot of experience to this Mumbai Indians bowling attack.
