GGW vs MIW Teams Preview

The 2-0 record demonstrates how dominant the Mumbai Indians were versus the Giants previous season.
The Giants understand that the Indians will come at them again. And their greatest chance of winning is to play to their full capacity and fend off any threat from the Indians.

Gujarat Giants

The Gujarat Giants had a dismal season last year, winning only two of eight games. Injuries, inconsistencies, and controversies plagued an otherwise normal season for the Giants.

They required a complete revamp to turn things around. Alternatively, the team’s management believed so and requested major modifications. They released coach Rachael Haynes and 11 other players from last season. They hired Michael Klinger, a Western Australian, to coach with Beth Mooney.

One of the first issues they faced was forming a new squad while retaining their core set of players. Given the roster of players they’ve assembled this season, it appears that they aced it.
Laura Wolvaardt will compete with Beth Mooney at the top. Both batters take their time putting their eye in. However, they must capitalize on the fielding limits during powerplay. Phoebe Litchfield, Ash Gardner, and Veda Krishnamurthy add steadiness and forceful striking to the middle order. Kashvee Gautam, the player they splurged on at the auction, will be out due to an injury.

Laurie Cheatle, an Australian sprinter, will also be missing in action. However, they have called up two pacers for cover, Lea Tahuhu and Kathryn Bryce.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians, champions of the inaugural WPL, are on a mission this time: defend their title. And the first thing they made after winning two championships in a row was to strengthen the team.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur is once again in charge. She will lead a star-studded group that includes Amelia Kerr, Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Chloe Tryon. Pooja Vastrakar, Yastika Bhatia, Amanjot Kaur, and Saika Ishaque are also in the mix.

Hayley Matthews, the West Indian opening hitter, was in top form last season and won player of the tournament. Yastika Bhatia, her capable opening partner, will help the Indians get off to a strong start with the bat. Nat Sciver Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur, who are always reliable, provide solidity in the middle order. South African Shabnim Ismail joins the squad to strengthen their pace bowling lineup, which already looks dangerous with Issy Wong on fire.

With that lineup, they’ve covered all the bases. And there are no weaknesses in their armor, making them the squad to beat this season. With so many players available, the skipper and backroom staff are spoilt for choice. And deciding on the best XI will be difficult.

GGW vs MIW Pitch Report

The match will be contested at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which is home to the IPL’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. A few days ago, this stadium held its maiden WPL encounter between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals.

Batting has always been easier on this surface. The narrow boundaries at the venue make bowling much more challenging. You err in line and length, and you vanish here. Dew has been demonstrated to play a factor here, but since it is early March, it is unclear what function it will play in this contest.
