Rachin Ravindra is a cricket player from New Zealand who started playing for the national team in September 2021. Rachin Ravindra was born on November 18, 1999, in Wellington, New Zealand, to parents from Bangalore, South India. Ravi Krishnamurthy, his father, used to play club cricket in Bangalore before shifting to New Zealand in 1997. Rachin’s original name is supposed to be a combination of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, but his father dismisses the connection as a coincidence. Balakrishna Adiga, Rachin’s grandpa, is a well-known educator. Rachin started playing cricket at the age of 5 in Wellington and traveled to Bangalore every year to play club cricket. His love for Sachin Tendulkar sparked his interest in cricket at an early age.

Ravindra was a member of New Zealand’s under-19 World Cup sides in 2016 and 2018. Following the end of the 2018 tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named Ravindra one of the competition’s rising stars. He signed a contract with Wellington for the 2018-19 season in June 2018.
In October 2018, Rachin Ravindra made his List A debut for New Zealand A against Pakistan A. He also made his first-class debut against the same opposition later that month. In the Ford Trophy match between Wellington and Auckland in November 2019, Ravindra scored his first century in List A cricket. In March 2020, he achieved his first-class cricket century in the sixth round of the 2019–20 Plunket Shield.
Before the 2020–21 domestic cricket season, in June 2020, Wellington made Ravindra an offer to sign a contract. He was included in the New Zealand A cricket team’s November practice lineup to play the visiting West Indies team. He amassed 112 runs to score a century in the first practice match. Ravindra was included in the New Zealand Test team for the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship final and their series against England in April 2021. He was included in the One Day International (ODI) squad for their tour of Pakistan in August as well as the Twenty20 International (T20I) team for their trip of Bangladesh [28]. Against Bangladesh on September 1st of that year, Ravindra made his T20I debut.
