Royal Challengers Bangalore, a team yet to win an Indian Premier League (IPL) title, acquired six new players for their lineup in the auction held in Dubai on Tuesday. Among the new acquisitions, West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph’s signing for Rs. 11.50 crore came as a surprise to many. However, it aligned with the team’s strategy of strengthening their pace attack by also bringing in New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson, India’s Yash Dayal, and English fast-bowling all-rounder Tom Curran. This page contains information about the IPL 2024 RCB Team Players List.
The auction for plate number one is scheduled for December 19, 2023, and the clubs have already announced the list of players that will be retained and released. IPL 2024 RCB Team Players List
RCB’s first purchase of the day was the Caribbean fast bowler, Alzarri Joseph, who was signed for INR 11.50 crore after a one-on-one battle with SunRisers Hyderabad to secure Pat Cummins, which unfortunately was unsuccessful. Joseph is known to have a nasty bouncer in his arsenal and can often bowl at a speed of 145 kph. With the new IPL rule allowing two bouncers in a single over, the threatening pacer will undoubtedly be one to watch out for, along with pace spearhead Reece Topley.
The Royal Challengers have acquired two new players in the recent auction. Yash Dayal, a left-arm pacer, was bought for INR 5 crore. He is expected to be an asset to the team with his skills in the new ball and middle overs. Dayal has been performing well in the local circuit, and RCB hopes that he will continue to do so.
Tom Curran was also acquired for a base price of INR 1.5 crore. He is an experienced all-rounder from England and was a valuable player in the Hundred tournament last year. Curran scored 38*, 43*, 18*, and 67* in the competition. He also showcased his excellent bowling skills with figures of 3/19 in the current BBL while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes.
RCB had a concern regarding their fast bowling squad despite having a strong top-order. To address this, they signed Lockie Ferguson to reinforce their team. The New Zealand fast bowler signed a deal worth INR 2 crore, and RCB made a few more late bids before the end of the evening.
Swapnil Singh, an experienced driver, was brought in to add some enigmatic revs to his performance and set him apart from the competition. He was purchased for INR 20 lakh and brings value to the Royal Challengers’ spinners unit. Saurav Chauhan was the last player to be purchased on the day and was hired at the base fee of INR 20 lakh. He holds the record for the highest strike rate (338.88) in an innings against a minimum of 10 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
