RCBW VS UPW: The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) began on Friday with a series of celebrity performances at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The opening match was between last year’s finalists, the Mumbai Indians (MI), and the Delhi Capitals (DC). On Saturday, February 24, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz will face off at the same location.
Heather Knight, the England captain who was playing for the RCB, pulled out of the season in January. Knight is replaced by South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk, who has played 30 One-Day Internationals and 46 Twenty20 Internationals for her country.
Similarly, Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu has replaced UP Warriorz’s Lauren Bell, who withdrew from the season. The Lankan captain is one of the game’s most powerful hitters, as well as one of the most experienced, having played in over 120 T20Is. Chamari is the only Lankan woman to hit a century in T20Is, and she is known for her attacking batting style.

RCBW VS UPW Teams Preview

RCB Women have a strong squad but UP Warriorz look to have assembled an even better group of players for this campaign. Even the late withdrawal of England Women’s tall bowler, Lauren Bell, they still look like a formidable unit.
Bell’s replacement Chamari Athapaththu is likely to open the batting alongside Tahlia McGrath with the ever-run-hungry skipper and keeper-batter Alyssa Healy to come in at one down.
Those three are more than capable of winning a game with their batting skills alone but, in case they fail in that mission, the bowling trio of Sophie Ecclestone, Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad are more than capable of stepping up and delivering with the ball.

In the reverse game, Ellyse Perry (3 for 16) helped UPW be bowled out for 135 before Richa Ghosh (31 off 32 balls) and Kanika Ahuja (46 off 30 balls) clinched the run chase for RCB with 5 wickets and 2 overs remaining.
